TAG Team up for Cyclone24 Charity Event

Tag are pleased to announce that we will be once again taking part in this year’s Cyclone24, a 24 hour cycling challenge to help raise money for the Velindre Cancer Centre.

Cyclone24 is the UK’s only velodrome challenge event series that takes place across a full day, and involves a team of six racing non-stop for 24 hours against 16 other teams on the velodrome.

Throughout the race, there will be at least one person on the track from each team at all times so that the race takes place in the style of a relay.

The challenge will take place in Newport between the 21st – 22nd October, and racing on behalf of Tag will be our Project & Creative Director, Tyron Stephens-Smith, along with team members Danny Olivier, Joe Carpenter, Harvey Brown and Dan Armstrong.

Most recently, the velodrome in which the teams will be racing on has undergone a name change in honour of Tour de France champion, Geraint Thomas, and is now known as the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales.

This occurred after Geraint recently became the third Briton and first Welshman to win the Tour of Britain, the world’s most famous road race.

Tyron said: “I’m delighted to take part in the Cyclone24 challenge for the third year in a row now, and myself and the team are very excited to race on the newly named velodrome where Geraint Thomas once trained.

“I’ve taken part in the challenge for the last three years now with Joe. We won back in 2016 and finished third last year, so we’re hoping to keep the positive momentum up and see if we can do just as well this year.

“The challenge requires strength and a positive mind set whilst battling tiredness and exhaustion, however the feeling you get once you have completed it is amazing, as it’s all for a good cause.

“This year, we are thrilled to be taking part in aid of the Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff, and we are urging people to donate and support us in the challenge by visiting our JustGiving page.”

The Velindre Cancer Centre is a specialist cancer treatment centre providing services to over 1.5 million people and their families across South East Wales and in other surrounding areas.

The centre treats over 5,000 new referrals and around 50,000 outpatients every year, and their aim is to provide patients and their families with the best support, care and treatment.
