The Brief
Founded by MakeShift, Peckham Levels allows local talent to access the space they need to create thriving enterprises, and is home to nearly 100 independent businesses.
Level 5 and 6 are open to the public and is home to bars, cafes and street food kiosks. Near + Far is a cocktail bar bringing a touch of Palm Springs to Peckham.
The client approached us and asked whether we could design and install a bespoke rectangular cocktail bar and an ergonomic back-of-house glass washing area.

The Outcome
The focal point of the design was the bespoke stainless-steel rectangular island bar. This allowed us to design drink displays and storage above the bar for extra stock needed during peak service times.
The bar was designed to be heavy-duty, meaning it would be impact resistant and will remain functional in the years to come.
The stainless-steel bar was fully welded and sealed into place increasing hygiene standards by eliminating any dirt traps which is often the case with modular equipment.
After completion, Near + Far was voted ‘Best New Venue in Peckham 2017/2018’ in the Design my Night Awards. It was also shortlisted in the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards 2018.
